Urgent Normative Challenges to a Sustainable Future

31. May – 04. June 2022
Ruhr-Universität Bochum

We are happy to resume our tradition to organize ‘Summer Schools’ in political, legal, and economic philosophy in collaboration with the University of Bochum (Germany) and the University of Graz (Austria). More specifically, the summer school is a cooperation between our Master’s program ‘Political, Legal, and Economic Philosophy’ and comparable programs at the other two universities.

This year, the University of Bochum and its master’s program ‘Ethics, Economics, Law, and Politics’ will be hosting the summer school. It will be about ‘Challenges to a Sustainable Future’ and takes place from May 31st to June 5th, 2022. It includes interdisciplinary workshops on climate change, migration, human rights, race-, sex- and gender-based inequality, and populism. (For more detailed information, see the attached program.)

The University of Bochum invites up to five (5) students from the Institute of Philosophy in Bern to this summer school and to earn 4 or 7 ECTS (depending on the workload) for successful participation. The costs of travel and accommodation will be covered in full.

Experience shows that it is a great opportunity for students and teachers alike to get to know each other, network, and discuss.

If you want to be part of it, please send your application with a short explanation of your interest in this topic to Dr. Sabine Hohl (sabine.hohl@philo.unibe.ch) and Prof. Markus Stepanians (markus.stepanians@philo.unibe.ch) until April 13th, 2022.
