Current Issues in Political Philosophy
In the setting of the Swiss Alps, the Institute of Philosophy of the University of Bern was hosting the summer school “Current Issues in Political Philosophy”. The summer school takes place regularly and is a cooperation between the University’s Master’s programme in 'Political, Legal, and Economic Philosophy' and similar programmes at the University of Bochum (Germany) and the University of Graz (Austria). Students and professors from these universities as well as from the University of Bari were participating, respectively teaching, which made the summer school an excellent opportunity for students and teachers to meet, network and discuss current issues in the field of political philosophy.
The summer school took place from 18 to 23 June 2023 in the guest and conference house Lauchbühl in Grindelwald (BE) and focused on the following topics:
- Refugee Protection | Prof. Dr. Anna Goppel, Bern
- Environmental Ethics | Prof. Michele Mangini, Bari
- Climate Change Meets Animals in the Wild | Prof. Dr. Lukas Meyer, Graz
- Human Rights and the Prohibition of Torture | Prof. Dr. Corinna Mieth, Bochum
- Justice and Work | Dr. Marcel Twele, Bern
Depending on the workload students chose, the summer school could be credited either as a colloquium (4 ETCS) or as a seminar (6/7 ETCS).
